Discover Sydney’s Most Marriage-Minded Singles

Marriage is top of the checklist for some singles when they’re looking for a significant other. It’s not easy to bring up on the first date though. Wouldn’t it be amazing if there were a map pointing out where Sydney’s most marriage-minded singles lived? Well, now you mention it...

We looked at anonymous data from 10,000 Sydney residents to find out which neighbourhoods were bursting with eligible marriage-minded singles.

So, how do you determine whose ‘marriage minded’? Simple: we analysed responses from our in-depth personality test that helps us match up prospective partners with compatible singles. The statement, ‘marriage is important to me and should be important to my partner’, can be rated as accurate by a member on a 1-9 ranking system. The higher the number, the more the member rates this statement as important to their dating life.

So, where are the 15 most marriage-minded neighbourhoods in Sydney?

The prestigious area of Darling Point tops the polls as the neighbourhood where the most marriage-minded Sydney singles live. EliteSingles is one of the best dating websites for Australia professionals. So, it’s not surprising that Darling Point, which has a high level of executives and educated singles, is top of the list. Considering the affluent and beautiful area, most people who live there probably have the canapes picked out for the wedding already!

In at number two is Bankstown, one of Sydney’s most bustling neighbourhoods and it’s most culturally diverse with over 60 different languages spoken by residents. Some marriage inclined locals have chosen the picturesque Bankstown City Gardens as the site of their proposal, or even their wedding, thanks to the parks tranquillity and quaint nature.

The increasingly popular Waterloo slid in at third place for the most proposal angsty neighbourhood in Sydney. Thanks to its myriad parks, pubs, restaurants and independent businesses, it's becoming one of Sydney's most creative hubs for young professionals.

Coming in fourth place as one of Sydney’s most marriage places is Auburn. Known for being popular with overseas arrivals with the majority of residents being born elsewhere. Auburn is melting pot of food, culture and, clearly, romance amongst the locals.
