Our personality test is the foundation of your success with EliteSingles. By determining your personality and individual attributes, the test allows us to introduce you to strong compatible matches.
About our free personality test
Divided into ten sections, the personality test comprehensively evaluates you as a person and is central to our matchmaking process. It’s based on the Five Factor Model theory of personality traits, a psychological model based on research by Robert McCrae and Paul Costa. The test works by discovering your levels of openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism. These results help us to match you with 3-7 strong compatible matches per day, from which you can decide whether you’d like to take the connection further. Easy!
‘I loved Malcolm’s profile. He seemed to like all the same things I did. We had both travelled a lot and both loved the sea… it was clear from our first couple of emails that I had found someone special.’ Shirley, 53
Be honest and honour your individuality
When using online dating it’s important to really be honest about who you are and what you’re looking for in a relationship, as this helps us to introduce you to people who really suit you. So when you decide to begin your EliteSingles journey and want to complete the personality test, make sure that you set aside a quiet block of time where you can really think about your answers, with more than 200 questions on the personality test, it’s important not to rush through any sections. Another thing to keep in mind is that honesty is always the best strategy. Giving what may appear to be the ‘right’ answer will only make you seem as though you are generic; be proud of who you and are what makes you different, because this is what makes you interesting and increases your chances of finding a compatible match.

The free personality test includes both multiple choice and open-response questions, such as ‘what are you passionate about?’, and also examines your values on factors such as intellectual ability, professional ambition, and relationship goals. In your profile, you can use our open questions to present a unique snapshot of yourself and tell others in detail what you are looking for. If you strongly value your social side, for instance, tell people why this is important to you, and what you expect in return. As research by Norton (2007) has established, profiles with more information have far more success in attracting highly compatible suitors, so try to present yourself as fully as possible. Other members want to get an insight into the real you, so help them out by conveying what makes you special. Just as you would like to read interesting responses from other members, write expressively and memorably in return.
