couple enjoying romantic meal

Grabbing a bite to eat is a staple date idea. Indeed, few things can vie with restaurant-going when it comes to universal appeal. However, finding a suitable spot can be a headache, especially when you’re trying to woo. This in mind, EliteSingles editorial team tasked itself with finding the best romantic restaurants Perth has to offer. All you have to do is sit back and get to know each other!

  • Chez Pierre

Romantic Restaurant Perth #1: Chez Pierre

Kicking off our top 10 is am establishment that needs little to no introduction. Priding itself on wonderfully provincial Gallic cuisine, Chez Pierre is the perfect spot if you want to enjoy a romantic meal in a smart, upscale environment. Presiding over the kitchen is Pierre Ichallalene, a Cordon Bleu chef who’s more than au fait with the finer elements of cookery. His a la carte menu is truly a thing of beauty, especially as you’re not bombarded with an overwhelming choice of disjointed mains.

  • Ciao Italia

Romantic Restaurant Perth #2: Ciao Italia

Everything about this charming little Italian joint is inherently romantic. Championing that delightfully Trattoria-style vibe, this is the place to go if you’re after an authentic experience. Yes, it may not have the slickest decor, but there’s something appealing about the red and white checked tablecloths and amiable staff. Then there’s the food; fabulously cooked pastas and wood-fired pizzas take centre stage. Disciples of Dolce would be crazy not to try their homemade tiramisu, a lavish treat that won’t disappoint!

  • Pinchos

    Romantic Restaurant Perth #3: Pinchos

After expanding their premises last summer, Pinchos can rightfully lay claim to being Perth’s first fully-fledged tapas restaurant. Fronted by owner Justin Bell, this Leederville haunt is a little cornucopia of Spanish delights. Pinchos – bite-size bar snacks that are popular in Basque cuisine – are the order of the day here.  Although it’s worth ordering a selection of plates, we recommend trying out the magnificently crispy chorizo croquettes and a portion of Jamon Iberico. Effortlessly romantic and sociable, tapas are perfect for first daters!

  • Juniper and Bay

Romantic Restaurant Perth #4: Juniper & Bay

Tucked away a on an unassuming road in residential Como is where you’ll find this hidden gem. A stone’s throw from Swan River, Juniper & Bay is a brilliant restaurant for an intimate date. Soren and Sabine, the duo at the helm here, have done a stellar job of fashioning a menu that combines rich European flavours with a hint of Asia. Their signature dish, sumptuous oven roasted duck in a rich port and prune jus, takes inspiration from the owners’ German heritage. A tantalising cultural cook-off!

  • Friends

    Romantic Restaurant Perth #5: Friends

No, we’re not talking about a certain hit US sitcom. To be sure, there’s nothing comedic about the food on offer here. Modern Australian food at its finest, Friends really is a Perth institution when it comes to fine dining. Intelligently put together dishes and a extensive wine list make for a truly memorable occasion. If you want to push the boat out, and we encourage it, go for the eight course tasting menu. You won’t regret it!

  • Il Lido

Romantic Restaurant Perth #6: Il Lido

Yes, it might seem a little bit short-sighted to include two Italian restaurants in this list, be this place is very different from Ciao Italia. Housed in what used to be an old art-deco cabaret hall, this beachside eatery is a firm fixture for Cottesloe diners. Sit down and take in the dramatic ocean panoramas and enjoy a meal that’s befitting of the view. If you’re an early riser, why not try out a brunch date – Il Lido do a great breakfast, bubbly optional!

  • nobu

    Romantic Restaurant Perth #7: Nobu

It’s pretty fair to say that this establishment is part of a chain that can lay claim to being the most esteemed Japanese gastronomic brand. Revered as a celebrity hangout across the globe, expect to be treated like an A-lister at this slick restaurant. High-end Japanese fare is the name of the game here; expect delicately presented sushi platters, crisp tempura batters and beautifully prepared fish and seafood. Carnivores can also sample some of the best Wagyu cuts in the country.

  • Blackbird

    Romantic Restaurant Perth #8: Blackbird

We’re fans of this place for two main reasons; firstly, it’s location, and secondly, it’s rivetingly rustic European approach to cooking. Looking out over a picturesque segment of the Swan River, it’s the perfect place to come and enjoy a waterside meal during the warmer summer months. The menu isn’t overcomplicated, the focus resting more on fresh ingredients and professional execution. Laid-back and unfussy, it’s an ideal spot to visit if you’re just starting to get to know your date!

  • Galangal

Romantic Restaurant Perth #9: Galangal Restaurant

This Mount Hawthorn staple is a firm favourite amongst local diners. Some people would even go as far to say that it’s one of the best Thai restaurants in Perth, and to be honest we’d probably tend to agree. Spotless white tablecloths and a tastefully finished interior make for the perfect environment in which to sample Galangal’s lavish dishes. Start off with a portion of fish cakes and super-citrusy green papaya salad. For a main, you can’t fault their Massaman curry for a bit of sheer indulgence!

  • Budburst

    Romantic Restaurant Perth #10: Budburst

In all our lists we try to include one or two places that are a bit left-field, and Budburst definitely fits the bill. What makes it different? Well, it’s a carefully curated blend of a friendly neighbourhood bar and bistro-style dining room, a combination that works fantastically. Set in a 100 year old cottage, sommelier Rachael Niall and Brittany-born chef Gwenael Lesle have honed a restaurant that’s easily producing some of the city’s most appetising food. Don’t hesitate, book a table and see what all the fuss is about!
