Sydney Harbour Night

It’s no secret that Sydney boasts one of the most vibrant cultural calendars Australia has to offer. With so much happening, the scope of events for Sydney singles is truly limitless (a quality that also makes it a great place to date!).

To help you orientate yourself with the city’s ‘goings on’ we’ve put together a few of our favourite Sydney singles events – so whether you’re a bona fide Sydneysider, a fresh-faced newcomer, or just stopping by for a quick visit, have a gander and get exploring with like-minded Sydney singles!

Get Dancing with some Live Music

It would be a sheer travesty not to mention Sydney’s booming music scene.

Internationally renowned for its eclecticism, NSW’s capital is literally packed to the rafters with top-class venues both big and small. If it’s no holds barred gigging you’re after then look no further than The Metro Theatre. The fulcrum of Sydney’s indie circuit, Metro’s stage has played host to some of the world’s biggest names (and a number of breakthrough Aussie acts too!). Laidback jams and blues abound at Venue 505, perfect for when you want to inject a little rhythm into a first date. Finally, for a mesmeric melange of bayou-beats and scintillating jazz, The Vanguard is your best bet.

Get Cultural at the Theatre

Sating your inner thespian isn’t difficult in Sydney. Perched majestically atop the dramaturgical pile is, of course, the Sydney Opera House. Famously designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon and completed in 1973, the iconic expressionist structure is as breathtaking to glimpse as the performances that take place within its hallowed vaults. Pop over to Walsh Bay’s Roslyn Packer Theatre to catch the Sydney Theatre Company in full swing or celebrate 40,000 years of Aborigine history on the pier with the Bangarra dance group.

Laugh Out Loud With Some Iconic Sydney Comedy

If you didn’t already know, EliteSingles’ research team recently revealed Sydney as home to Australia’s funniest singles. Paying testament to that discovery, there’s a cornucopia of joke-joints where you can catch the most rip-snorting of Sydney singles events. Championing one of the most varied stand-up bills in town, the Art Deco Enmore Theatre is a genuine barrel of laughs. If you’re after the hit and miss humour of an open then the Mug and Kettle show at Glebe’s Record Crate will have your sides proverbially splitting. Venture to King’s Cross for some award-winning wit at the intimate Happy Endings Comedy Club.

Expand Your Horizons at Sydney’s World Famous Galleries

Wandering around a gallery can be a great way to get to know your partner, and it’s a sure fire way to prompt discussion too. Fortunately for art aficionados, Sydney is literally overflowing with excellent exhibitions. Established institutions such as Artspace and the Museum of Contemporary Art are consistent on the curation tip; they’re also at the heart of the Sydney Biennale. For something a little more left-field, check out Chippendale’s White Rabbit for a sliver of 21st-century Chinese art. Also, the AGNSW hosts a twilight tour of its galleries every Wednesday, ideal for night owls!
